Minneriya National Park

our values

We believe all animals have the right to exist as they should - in the wild, and without human interference.

Lime Days actively discourages our customers from participating in activities that exploit wild or domestic animals. We subscribe to the Five Freedoms which outline five aspects of animal welfare under human control.

These are:

  • Freedom from hunger and thirst

  • Freedom from discomfort

  • Freedom from pain, injury or disease

  • Freedom to express normal behaviour

  • Freedom from fear and distress

As part of our commitment to upholding these freedoms, we work closely with the Millennium Elephant Foundation in Sri Lanka which is dedicated to improving the welfare of domestic elephants throughout Sri Lanka.

Lime Days is happy to advise that we do not offer or encourage any type of animal exploitation in our itineraries.

SWIMMING WITH WHALES IN SRI LANKA

Over recent years, several tour operators have offered and continue to offer swimming with whales tours. The troubling issue with this activity is that the Sri Lankan government banned this practice in 2012 due to the harmful impact on marine mammals.

Swimming with whales is not only unethical - in Sri Lanka, it is illegal.
